Matthew Maiers, CMFC® CFS®
Vice President , Investment Advisor
Matt's passion and dedication to helping others achieve success in reaching their goals is what attracted him to Hunter Street Investments. He believes that the keys to a successful financial planning are better communication, timely education, and stronger relationships. Matt takes complex financial scenarios and simplifies them so clients have a better understanding of not only the subject, but more importantly how it can impact their overall goals. Matt's desire to lead people to their investment dreams began in the late 90s. This was a time of growing economies and profitable stock markets. He has seen and experienced all emotions that our financial markets can offer and understands the importance of sticking to a sound financial plan as well as adapting to challenges that we cannot control. This was most evident in 2008. Matt had the opportunity to work with many pre-retirees and retirees and watch as our stock markets crashed and erased millions of savings in a matter of months. This impacted him greatly. He spent a great deal of time during this crisis meeting with investors to ensure their plans were properly diversified and helping them understand how to navigate through current and future market challenges.
Matt grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. Even though he is long-removed from that area, his passion for Philly sports remains! He attended the University of Delaware and studied Marketing and Business Administration and moved to Virginia to begin his career in the financial service industry at a very early age. Matt comes from a small family and was the first to leave PA for a career move. He turned this choice into a very successful journey that included positions with American Funds, the Hartford and a natural transition to Financial Planning firms that allowed Matt to assist in educating and building customized investment solutions to better serve his clients' needs.
Matt resides in Apex, NC. He is blessed with a wonderful wife, Ashley, and with 4 remarkable children: Brooke, Haiden, Addison, and Evelynn. Matt and Haiden are significantly outnumbered in the household, however they recently adopted a puppy named Troy. As a family they enjoy the outdoors and any activity they can possibly try. His passion for helping others extends well past his career. Beyond coaching his children in soccer, he is actively involved in his Church. As a member and officer for the Knights of Columbus, he regularly volunteers his time to helping his community and fundraisers for local and national charities.
